Imagine that fear-
that pain.
Long necks strained to flee,
eyes wide
ears pricked at
the sound of others screams.
Blood runs down their faces,
regal bodies shining,
ever noble 'till their last step,
and beautiful
into death.
They probably wonder
what they did wrong...
In response to :iconrejectall-american: 's recent journal.
I had never in my life looked up horse slaughter photos on Google- I never really wanted to. But the way Bounce discusses her opinion of horse slaughter made me curious, and although i agree with her in every way... the photos i viewed on Google seemed to write themselves a poem.
Quoted from Bounce: "Horse meat is just like any other meat. It's no different than beef, pork, or chicken. It's no different than lamb or veal. And despite what every one seems to think, it is no different just because it's a horse." And I can, in fact, tell you that this is a valid statement. I am an animal lover, and i have been faced many times with thoughts of becoming a vegetarian- but then i think, that meat was something us humans, as animals ourselves, were always intended to eat. And unfortunately, for us to get the food we need, there does need to be slaughter houses. I just do not understand why this killing has to be done in such an unethical and ridiculously cruel way. Not that anything is going to change.... us humans are greedy fools. For someone who loves horses, who knows how much they do for us.... it's hard to face the fact that they can go through such horrible, hellish treatment- but as Bounce said, slaughtering is a necessary evil.

PLEASE don't give her crap about her opinion. That, dumbasses, is why its called an OPINION.

I don't care if people give me shit for it. By all means, let it fly. ;)

Obviously I don't enjoy the thought of slaughter. No one does. But it is needed and people need to understand the consequences of banning it. The group that got me on this track is relying on photographs from google- and people, that's not a valid argument. No one likes the subject, but instead of looking at gross pictures, how about you go out and do some actual RESEARCH before you condemn it. Or how about, instead of complaining that it's inhumane, how about you petition to make the methods of killing more humane and suitable? But if you're insistent on solely using pictures for your argument, then look up "horse abuse" while you're at it. You won't like that either. It has to be done, there is no debate really, because there are more horses out there now due to PMU farms and backyard breeders than the entire world can handle, even if everyone and their mother owned a horse or two. And I for one would rather see horses slaughtered locally than stuffed in too crowded trailers and taken on horror rides to Mexico, where they don't have humane animal treatment laws.
